A LIFE WORTH CELEBRATING!

Lois Carolyn (Greene) Linnert passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026 at the

age of 101 in Santa Clarita, California. Her mind was sharp, and she lived life well to

the very end. Her intelligence, humor, and interest in the world in which she lived

will be missed.

Lois is survived by her three children and their extended families: son Lance

Aaron Linnert, daughter Loni Robyn Shirley (Randy James Shirley), and daughter

Shawn Janine Teske (David Roger Teske); grandchildren Joshua James Shirley (Tanya

Biorac Shirley), Kris Cooper Shirley (Kearsten Leggett Shirley), Danelle Janine Krausse

(James Arthur Krausse), Zachary David Teske (Amber Rossi Teske), and Kyle Parker

Teske; and great-grandchildren twins Madden and Nixon Shirley, Cooper and Callen

Shirley, and Kasen and Trevor Krausse.

Lois was born in Chicago, Illinois, on February 22, 1925, to Hilma Carolyn

Johnson Greene and Andrew Samuel Greene. She lived there for the first 13 years of

her life, along with her only sibling, James Robert Greene (deceased) of Fair Haven,

New Jersey. The family moved to Highland Park, California, where Lois spent the rest

of her childhood years. In these early years, Lois was a huge fan of Bing Crosby,

developed a love of reading, and spent many hours outside playing sports with her

brother, softball being one that she loved and excelled at! One memorable job she

had during these years was as a gas station attendant, filling tanks and cleaning

windshields while wearing roller skates!

Lois attended Occidental College in Los Angeles and attained a degree in

education. Later she would also earn a Master’s degree in education. While there,

she met and later married George Harry Linnert of Orange, California, on August 31,

1954. They started their life together in a home in Sunland, California, where they

lived and raised their family. Forty years later, Lois and George moved to Santa

Clarita, California. They were married for 46 years before George passed away in 2001

of Alzheimer's disease at the age of 83.

For the entirety of her career, Lois was an elementary school teacher. She

found that she enjoyed teaching special education and was known for her strong, yet

loving, approach. She retired from teaching in 1994 and, ironically, went on to live

more years in retirement than the 30+ years of her career.

Lois was an avid golfer for 25 years. She was also a talented artist who painted

many abstract and still-life paintings over the years, with oil paint being her medium

of choice. She was immensely interested in reading, discussion groups (often held in

her home), book clubs, Unitarian Universalist of Santa Clarita Valley gatherings, and

the Silver Rocker lunch club. She loved to get together with friends, enjoyed the

theatre, and attended plays regularly as a season ticket holder. Lois loved the ocean

and would steal down a few times a year for afternoons with her feet in the sand

while listening to the ocean waves crashing. She volunteered at the local food

pantry, was the secretary of her golf club, and organized numerous events and

schedules. Lois loved to watch sports of all kinds, the Dodgers being at the top of her

list. For years she attended several games a year, cheering on the boys in blue.

We will miss her sparkling blue eyes, but her legacy of creating generational

bonds will live on!
