Please share a memory of Leland to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Leland David Boulton (1925 – 2013) Leland David Boulton (Lee), 87, a resident of La Crescenta, California, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the assisted living facility where he had been a resident since 2006. He was born in Bakersfield, California on April 9, 1925. His parents were Orville Marsh Boulton (1887-1961) and Fern Maria Stanton (1896-1989). He had one sister and three brothers. He graduated from Redlands High School in 1943. After graduation, he worked at Pan American Airlines in San Francisco, California. He started in the sheet metal department and worked for a while putting a new bottom on the China Clipper, a flying boat. Following his employment with Pan American Airlines, Lee served in the United States Navy during World War II (1943-1946) and was stationed in the Philippines. In his early adult years, he owned an Indian motorcycle and enjoyed riding it whenever he had free time. In 1947, he married his first wife, Amelia Lynn Armstrong (1929-2001). They had one daughter and one son. He later remarried, and his second wife was Jeanette Pinkston (1937-2006). Lee was part-owner of Anderson-Winn Paper Company, a wholesale paper company, in Los Angeles, California, for several years. He was also the "song leader" at the Alhambra Church of Christ during that time. After leaving Anderson-Winn, he became a truck driver, as an independent owner operator, and drove cross-country for seventeen years. He retired in Kansas in 1990. He was a talented tenor and enjoyed singing in church. Lee was a faithful church member throughout his life wherever he lived. He became a member of the La Cañada Presbyterian Church and attended faithfully, including the Sunday before his death. He was a wonderful Christian example; a gentle, caring, and kind man who loved to worship God and loved his family. Lee is survived by his sister, Iona Shedenhelm; his brothers, Floyd Kenneth Boulton (Ken) and his wife Jan, and Wayne Harold Boulton and his wife Doris. His brother Howard Charles Boulton died in 2000. He is survived by his daughter, Sheryl Lynn Rinker and her husband George Clark Rinker; grandson Jason Clark Rinker and his wife Xochilt Correa-Rinker; granddaughter Melissa Lynn Oliver and her husband Nicholas Blake Oliver. Lee is survived by his son, Curtis Lee Boulton and granddaughter Alyssa Lynn Boulton. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM at La Cañada Presbyterian Church in the Cook Prayer Chapel, with Rev. Jim Milley officiating. The address is 626 Foothill Boulevard, La Cañada, California 91011. A reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Memorial contributions in Lee Boulton’s name may be made to La Cañada Presbyterian Church.
