Joanne Marie Pierson

On the morning of Friday, March 29th, 2013, the world lost a truly amazing woman that can never be replaced. Joanne Marie Pierson was born on March 22th, 1938 in Hollywood, California to parents George Braun and Katherine Pickett Braun. At the age of 75 years old, Grandma "Jo" or "Goose" passed away peacefully after an elongated battle with illness at Verdugo Hills Hospital in La Canada. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.

After Joanne received her G.E.D from Verdugo High School, she continued on to receive a degree from Los Angeles Mission College. She was married on April 28th, 1956 to the love of her life, Charles "Beau" Pierson in Los Angeles, California. During her career, she spent many years as a Special Education teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District. As a resident of the city of Sunland for over 40 years, she enjoyed every moment of her life as she became a mother, grand-mother, and eventually great-grand-mother. Joanne is survived by her loving children: sons William Franklin Pierson and wife Karen Marie, Christopher Paul and fiancé Lori Lynn, and beloved daughter, Tracy Kay. Her cherished grand-children, Jennifer Beth, Katie Marie and fiancé Timothy Stephen, Courtney Lynn and husband Juan "Billy", Kristen Lynn, and Nicholas Steven. She is also survived by her much-loved great-grand-child: Saydie Marie.

Her happiness and enjoyments in life, other than her family, came from activities such as sewing, crafts, baking, rifling, and being a festive member and supporter of Jobs Daughter’s and Eastern Star. She had reached the level of Star Point Officer (Ruth) of Eastern Star.
