Obituary of William Horst
Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Hi Square Dancers and Friends,
Bill Horst passed away last night, Friday. January 23rd. He entered the hospital over two weeks ago with an ulcer in the duodenum area and an arterial bleed there. Things looked to be on the mend, but the artery opened again last night and was too great a problem to correct.
His passing is a great loss for all of us who knew and loved him. For the Buckles & Bows, he was our class instructor, mentor and friend for almost 15 years. He also ran our summer workshop since it began 9 years ago.
We are so fortunate that Mike Seastrom was one of Bill's closest friends and agreed to sub for Bill during all of this. I have spoken with Mike and he will finish out this class year with us. Thank you, Mike.
I feel the best thing all of us can do, those of us who were planning on attending the Student Stomp tomorrow, is to still go to that dance and have a wonderful time as we celebrate Bill's life and how he helped all of us to be better square dancers. He would wish this I am certain. I am sure the callers there will have lots of fun anecdotes about Bill. It is doubtful that Jenney will be able to join us for dinner afterwards, but she is most certainly still invited and we would love to grieve and celebrate his life with her. We send our love and best wishes to her and their family.
When there is information about his memorial service it will be sent out to all.
Via con Dios. my friend. You will most certainly be missed. Our pleasure was in knowing you.
