Joseph L. Morelli Obituary

Joseph L. Morelli, 93, of Valencia, CA, died at his home on March 14 surrounded by

his loving family.


He was born in Tyler, PA the son of the late Guiseppi "Joe" and Filamina "Mamie" (Santorsola) Morelli.

He resided in Penfield, PA where he worked for many years at Morelli's grocery store.

He graduated from Huston Township High School in Penfield, PA.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran 1951-1953 serving on the USS Botetourt.


After moving to CA, he continued to work for many years in the grocery business,

he retired from Lucky's supermarket,UFCW Local 770, in 1991.

You could find Joe taking care of his garden, mowing lawns, fixing sprinklers and

you never saw a leaf on our street. He was voted the " World's Greatest Neighbor",

given an award, followed by a huge block party to celebrate all his goodness and

kindness. He truly loved helping others. He also was recognized by the Signal

newspaper as one of Santa Clarita's Angels in 1997.


He is survived by his wife Rose; son Joe (Cathy) Morelli of Newhall,CA;

daughter Marta Morelli of Delaware; 2 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many


nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers John Morelli and Peter Morelli;

and sisters Dinah Maholtz, Margaret Segalla and Catherine Giardino.


A Celebration of Life will be at St.Kateri Catholic Church, 22508 Copper Hill Drive,

Santa Clarita, CA on April 12 at 11am with memorial reception to follow in the church

hall. Interment will be at Eternal Valley Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial donations can be made to SCV Senior Center,

27180 Golden Valley Road, Santa Clarita,CA 91351 or to the Alzheimer's Association.
