Obituary of Evelyn Moser
Please share a memory of Evelyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Evelyn was born in Kasson, Minnesota, the fourth of five children of Charles and Cora Jensen. At the age of nine, Evelyn and her family piled in a Studebaker touring car and made the three week trip to California along with another family who had a friend living in Glendale.
The family settled in North Glendale and Evelyn graduated from Hoover High School in 1932. While in high school, she went to a dance at Jim Jeffries Barn in Burbank where she met a handsome young fellow from Glendale High named Robert Moser (affectionately known as "Red"). The couple married in 1934 and had two children, Shirley Western of Glendale and Robert Moser of Fort Mohave, Arizona. They spent forty-nine happy years together until 1983 when she lost Red.
Red's parents were among the early settlers of Glendale at the turn of the century when Glendale was known as Tropico. The family home formerly belonged to a silent movie star named Betty Compson and it was located on Central Avenue. In 1926, the Mosers bought the home and had it moved to their property on East Acacia. In 1942, Evelyn and Red moved into the home and it was there she lived for 63 years until she sold it and moved to Mountview in August of 2003.
During WWII, Evelyn did her patriotic duty and worked the graveyard shift at Lockheed Defense Plant as a riveter. In later years, she was a checker at Ralph's Grocery in Glendale, and a few years after that, she became a pharmacist's assistant at Adams Square Pharmacy and Glenhurst Pharmacy until she retired in 1995. Evelyn has six grandchildren and fourteen great- grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
