Obituary of Wesley Darland

Wesley Ramond Darland, age 80. Born to Clifford Uriah Darland and Ruth Evaline Anderson, August 22, 1932. Died January 30, 2013, in Glendale, CA. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Juanda Darland, to whom he was married for 46 years. Loving father and stepfather to Shannon Rae, Jerri Crismon, Michael Hinds, and Matthew DeVoll. Proud Grandfather of Corey Tretteen, Douglas Tretteen, Tomas Hinds, Jackie Goines, Tifney Hinds, Grace DeVoll, Wesley DeVoll, and Robert Chavez. Great grandfather of 8. Wesley was born in Shallow Water, KS and raised in Clovis, New Mexico. He graduated from Clovis High School in 1951. He served as a Corporal in the United States army during the Korean War. After he left the service in 1954, he worked in his family’s business as the proprietor of the 4-Lane Fruit Market, in Clovis New Mexico. He married Juanda in 1961 and relocated to Southern California in 1965, where they made their home and raised their family. He worked for Arrowhead Water for over 30 years, retiring in 1997. He loved fishing, reading, and being with family and friends. He could build or repair anything and was in constant demand as family contractor and handyman. In addition to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, Wesley is survived by eleven nieces and nephews, and countless friends who loved him like family. Wesley was preceded in death by his sister, Lila, and by brothers Oscar, Delbert, Darrel, and Richard. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to the Wesley Darland Memorial Fund, which is held at the Pasadena Community Foundation, 260 S.
