Capt Carlson always put me at ease..... Especially when all hell was breaking loose at a fire scene ! I would just see his smile and I knew then and there everything was going to be OKAY. He set the pace for the rest of us and I will always miss that Confidence ! Ted Verdone GFD

Irene, Mark and family, We are saddened by the loss of Bill. He was kind, likable and a great firefighter. I was assigned to T29 on probation under the direction of Captain Carlson. He was patient with me as a young firefighter and helped me and my career. We enjoyed being neighbors in Montrose for a few years. I enjoyed our ski trip to Lake Pyramid with Bill and Mark. I have one memory that I must share because it is forever etched in my head. I will never forget the time when Captain Carlson was standing in the lobby at station 29 looking towards the car dealership. I slid the fire pole and I was still trying to figure out how to hang on. I didn't do well that day and I came crashing down with a loud landing. Bill simply turned towards me and then turned back toward the dealership. I can only imagine what was going through his head. Bill was a good family man and he will be missed. Ed Ackerman
